EVELYN R. LUCHING ELECTED AS MEMBER OF THE PCC BOARD OF DIRECTORS! (ARTICLE FROM PCC COOPVOICE VOL.NO.3 SERIES 3 JUNE 2012 ISSUE)

In its first organizational meeting, the afternoon after its 14th Annual General Assembly last May 31, 2012, the Board of Directors (BOD) of the Philippine Cooperative Center (PCC) elected its first woman Chair and Vice Chair in the persons of Norma R. Pereyras representing MASS SPECC and Sylvia O. Paraguya representing NATCCO.

Chair Pereyras is also a former Chair and the concurrent Vice-Chair of MASS SPECC. She is also the Chair of Tagum Cooperative. Tagum Cooperative is a billionaire cooperative and recipient of the first CDA Gawad Parangal for large cooperatives in Mindanao with no external debt. Vice Chair Paraguya is the current Chief Executive Officer of NATCCO – the biggest cooperative federation.

PCC’s General Assembly reconfirmed PCC’s founding and former Chair, Hon. Butz Aquino as its Chair Emeritus and Ambassador at Large. The BOD also retained Hon. Butz Aquino as Chair of the National Summit Committee and its official representative to the National Cooperative Development Council (NCDC) which he currently heads. He also represents PCC in the Metro South Cooperative Bank.

The other BOD members of PCC are: Fr. Mar Arenas of Holy Cross Savings and Credit Cooperative, Wilfredo Calubayan of Mauban Credit and Development Cooperative, Ramon Canastre Jr. of the Federation of Free Farmer’s Cooperatives, Inc., Doris Cañares of VICTO National, Cecilia Dela Cruz of National Cooperative Marketing Federation, Raymundo Fajardo of NUWRAIN Development Cooperative, Dionisia Gupit of Novaliches Development Cooperative, EVELYN LUCHING OF SAN DIONISIO CREDIT COOPERATIVE, Engr. Albert Omega of Tagum Cooperative, Christie Rowena Plantilla of the Federation of Peoples’ Sustainable Development Cooperatives, Hamilcar Rutaquio of Tagalog Cooperative Development Center, Ramil Santos of Paco-Soriano-Pandacan Development Cooperative, and Rosalie Valencia of Valenzuela Development Cooperative. All in all, out of the 15-member Board of PCC, eight are women. PCC is currently busy preparing for the 11th National Cooperative Summit on October 10 to 12 in Cagayan de Oro City and very active in pursuing an Integrated Cooperative System and other advocacies.
