DR. GARIBALDI O. LEONARDO – GUEST SPEAKER AT THE FIRST SOCIAL ENTREPRENEURSHIP SYMPOSIUM OF THE UNIVERSITY OF ASIA & THE PACIFIC (UAP)

The University of Asia and the Pacific invited Dr. Garibaldi O. Leonardo, SDCC Chairperson to be one of the guest speakers during its first Annual Symposium on Social Entrepreneurship held on Feb. 16, 2012.

The Symposium's intention was to raise awareness about various social enterprises and to share best practices and experiences with young professionals who were interested in pursuing a career in the field of social entrepreneurship. The UAP also invited other practitioners who were interested in learning from those with experience in this field.

Invited speakers were Dr. Bernardo M. Villegas, who led the opening remarks (Topic: Making an Impact, the Life of Raul C. Hernandez), Mr. Bienvenido P. Nito, University of Asia and the Pacific (Topic: Principles of Social Entrepreneurship), Mr. Antonio L. Sayo, Chairman of the Board, Alay-Buhay (Topic: Community Development Foundation, Inc.), Mr. Kamrul H. Tarafder, President, ASA Philippines (Topic: Starting-Up and Maintaining a Microfinance Enterprise: the ASA Experience), Mr. Leo G. Parma, Founder, AsiaPro and Mr. Edmundo M. Castañeda, Chairman of the Board, AsiaPro (Topic: AsiaPro Cooperative: An Emerging Model in Social Enterprises), and Dr. Jose Rene Gayo, President, Foundations for People Development for the closing remarks.
